Bryan Choo ACSI

Dear Mr Chua, in my years of studying the complicated subject of physics and chemistry, I have never come across a teacher as knowledgable and wise as you. You are truly one of my most respected teacher ever. From F9/D7 to A1 in Physics, I am forever grateful for your guidance and care. I'm so sorry for missing lessons sometimes, there is no excuse for my carelessness but I still enjoy every lesson. I feel like I learn new things and my misunderstanding are rectified each time and any a great teacher can do that so I thank you. I hope you enjoy teaching me as much as I enjoy your lessons.

Hi Mr Chua, thank you very much for teaching me Physics for the 'O' & A Levels. I would not have gotten an A without your help! All the best for your future endeavours!

Although I haven't been with you as long as Joycelyn has. I have to say that I have also learnt from you. I realise the things that you say are both applicable in the subject and most importantly, morals in life. I think that it is very important for a teacher to teach us philosophies too, as it is the things that guide us in life. Like your "never give up" and "go all the way" and many study methods, I have really tried them out and it really helped me a lot. My Physics and Chemistry have improved after being taught by you, so I am really very grateful for all you have done for us. Thanks!

The great Roger Bannister died on 5th March 2018.

Bannister was the guy who in 1954 achieved what virtually the entire world said was impossible.

He ran a mile in under 4 minutes. The running experts said it couldn’t be done.
The physiology experts said a human could not move at that speed for that long.

But Roger Bannister believed it was more than possible, he believed that he himself would do it.

And when, on May 6th 1954, he did achieve the impossible, something amazing happened.

46 days later, his main rival (Australian competitor) John Landy, beat Bannister’s time.

Since then, the “four-minute barrier” has been broken by many athletes and is now the standard of all male professional middle distance runners.

Over the last 50 years the “impossible” record has been lowered by almost 17 seconds, currently standing at 3:43.13.

Roger Bannister, however, became the symbol of a very important idea.

Your expectation hugely affects your results.

Or as Henry Ford put it, “If you think you can or you can’t, you’re right.”

So take a moment to think of Roger Bannister today.

And how that idea could apply currently in your studies.

You can do it.
